    For this week’s Crime Stoppers, we look at a warning from New York State Police about a growing financial scam involving fraudulent cryptocurrency and the purchase of gold bars or coins.

    Trooper Lynnea Crane says scammers are increasingly using sophisticated tactics to convince victims to liquidate their savings, withdraw large sums of cash or purchase gold with false promises.

    People who believe they’ve been targeted should stop communicating with suspected scammers and report the incident at www.ic3.gov. They should contact New York State Police or a local law enforcement agency immediately.
